Your Complete Guide To The 2017 GLOC Shootout at Grand Lake

The 3rd annual 2017 GLOC Shootout, set for July 13th through 16th 2017, is all systems go for what is sure to be the biggest and best performance boat shootout ever held at Grand Lake.

Once again participants are coming to Oklahoma from as far away as Huntington Beach, California and South Florida to run the guns at GLOC and take in all that Grand Lake has to offer.

You can find details on everything related to the GLOC Shootout, including the full schedule, registration forms, racer info, spectator info and more on the all new website at http://glocshootout.com.

Here is a rundown of all the events that are a part of this great Grand Lake event, including the return of the Street Party to the Grove Civic Center on Thursday evening and the addition of the Veterans Charity Troop Tour on Friday.

GLOC Shootout Street Party

The popular Street Party returns to the Grove Civic Center at 1702 South Main Street on Thursday, July 13th, from 5 to 10 pm. 2nd Amendment at GLOC Shootout

Actually, even BEFORE the Street Party, you will have a chance to check out an awesome parade of up to 8 DCB performance boats through downtown Grove.

That will take place approximately 3 or 4 pm as these boats will be gathering at Lakeside Marina at Sailboat Bridge before making their way to the Civic Center parking lot.

But, these boats and the rigs needed to tow them are so large that it’s necessary for a police escort to help them navigate the intersection in Downtown Grove at 3rd and Main.

This will be a full-on police escort type of deal and really cool to see.

But back to the Street Party itself.

This is absolutely your best chance to get up close and personal with the awesome performance boats that will be running throughout the weekend on Grand Lake – and their owners and team members.

The Civic Center parking lot will be FULL of boats, so plan accordingly.

Parking for the public will be available across the street from the Civic Center in the parking lot next to Charlie’s Chicken.

American Grill will be on hand with cold drinks and their will also be a handful of vendors on site.

Be here early so you can check out the Street Party and get your GLOC Shootout weekend started the right way!

As the lead boat approaches the desired location we have designated a “Tour” boat that will break off as the group approaches the course to a particular restaurant and you are welcome to follow this boat that will take you directly to the restaurant you have chosen.

All others will proceed back to Lakeside where they then can continue to enjoy the lake and the 3rd Annual GLOC Shootout.

There will be live entertainment, food trucks, cold drinks, vendors and a whole bunch of people that love boats, boating and Grand Lake.

This was a very popular event last year as it gives you, the spectators, a chance to get on the docks and see these boats in the water…where they belong!

And remember, during actual racing hours on Saturday and Sunday, the dock at Lakeside Marina becomes a Hot Pit area where we are required by insurance to limit access to those over the age of 18 who have signed waivers. There is also a $20 per person charge for access to the docks during the actual racing.

BUT, Friday night during the Docks Party is the perfect opportunity for you to get out on the dock and see these amazing boats in the water with their drivers and owners and teams right there eager to visit with you.

Also, limited parking will be available at Lakeside Marina, but there is also parking just to the South (follow the signs) and a FREE SHUTTLE will be provided to get you to and from your car and the action at Lakeside.

So don’t miss the “Cruising the Docks Party” on Friday night!

And don’t forget you can tune in to KGVE 99.3 FM starting an hour before racing each day and get all the info on participants, sponsors and up to the minute results with top speeds for all the Shootout runs.

Plus you can follow the GLOC Shootout on social media on Facebook and Twitter to get live speeds as well.

Dealers and Manufacturers Showcase

New this year is the Dealers and Manufacturers Showcase which will happen during the racing hours both Saturday and Sunday. GLOC Dealers and Manufacturers Showcase

The Showcase will feature a dealer or manufacturer’s ‘Showcase’ boat running down the GLOC Shootout ¾ mile course while announcers Mr. Bob May and Mr. Brad Harrington announce the highlights and details about that dealer or manufacturer and the boat they are showcasing.

As with all boats running the GLOC Shootout course, the showcase boats will make use of the GLOC FasTrac Course and make a 2nd trip up the course, highlighting that boat in different conditions based on wind direction and speed.

This is a great opportunity for dealers and manufacturers to be spotlighted on the shootout stage in front of thousands of boating enthusiasts.

This year’s Showcase at the GLOC Shootout is already scheduled to include:

  • DCB Boats with Carlton Bass, Bo Gregory, Chase Chappell,  JP O’Donoghue, Shawn Gibson  and Mark Schouten all making showcase runs.
  • Indian Hills Marina – This Grand Lake marina will be highlighting a brand new Playcraft Xtreme.

So there you have it….WOW – It’s going to be a full weekend of big fun, fast boats and great people!
