The Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the publication of a “Coffee Table” book recounting the history behind the construction of the Pensacola Dam and the dramatic impact it has had on all of Northeastern Oklahoma.
The book is called ‘Grand Lake…The Crown Jewel of Oklahoma’ and it traces the roots of an idea to provide electricity to The Cherokee Nation to what has now become home to the one of the most exciting recreational based economies not just in Oklahoma, but in all of the United States.
Plans call for the book to be introduced at the Tulsa Boat, Sport & Travel Show in late January, retailing at $50.00 per copy.
However, copies ordered prior to the
end of December Tulsa Boat Show will be sold at an advanced discounted sales price of $35.00 per copy.
The book project, bringing Grand Lake’s colorful history clearly into focus, is a joint effort between the Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, the book’s author, Jim Weeks, and couldn’t have been accomplished without the full cooperation of the Grand River Dam Authority.
The hardback presentation has a leather cover with an emblazoned outline of Grand Lake with the books title proclaiming “Grand Lake…The Crown Jewel of Oklahoma”.
The book also has a full color dust cover with a breathtaking aerial photograph from behind the Pensacola Dam looking to the North.
To reserve your copy of a limited edition offering of the real Grand Lake story, e-mail the Chamber at [email protected] or visit the chamber’s office in the GRDA Eco-Systems Building or just fill out this convenient order form and return it to the Chamber office.
All proceeds from the sale of the book benefit the Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce with the stated goal of promoting the growth of economic development, tourism and member businesses in the Grand Lake region.
