GRDA cancels annual “lake launch” event
Langley – The Grand River Dam Authority’s annual “Lake Launch” event, scheduled for this Friday, May 5, has been cancelled.
GRDA made the decision due to current lake elevations and its need to remain fully focused on managing floodwater releases and providing assistance to the public.
“We know many look forward to this event every year but unfortunately weather conditions have worked against us,” said GRDA Vice President of Corporate Communications Justin Alberty. “Our priority remains public safety and we appreciate everyone’s understating and cooperation as we continue to focus our attention on this high water episode.”
The 2017 GRDA ‘Lake Launch’ event takes place on May 5th at the Ecosystems and Education Center in Langley.
The annual event is an opportunity for GRDA to kick off the summer lake season and gives lake users like you the chance to meet GRDA’s lake operations team, including officers who patrol GRDA water throughout the year.
It’s also an ideal occasion to meet some lake area businesses and network with like-minded lake lovers who are looking forward to another exceptional season.
Those who attend the event will also hear about changes in boating laws or other changes that may affect recreation during the upcoming season.
One of the highlights of the event is the annual “State of the Lake Address” presented by GRDA Chief Executive Officer Dan Sullivan.
Free and open to the public, the annual Lake Launch Event provides free food, music and prize giveaways.
Weather permitting, the outdoor patio area, overlooking the lake and Pensacola Dam, will be available.
