The always active South Grand Lake Lions Club is at it again, this time putting on the 2013 Grand Lake BBQ Festival in Langley on May 17 & 18.
The 2013 Grand Lake BBQ Festival is a Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned contest, and has been designated by Governor Mary Fallin (a fine Grand Laker in her own right!) as a Oklahoma State BBQ Championship.
For all the details on entering the event and the rules associated with a Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned event, check out the website for the festival at http://www.grandlakebbq.com.
The event kicks off Friday Night and has been designated ‘Adult Night’. So, bring your favorite cold beverage and lawn chairs and enjoy the great music of Grand Lake’s own Don White. Friday night’s festivities start around 5 pm and run until 10.
Saturday is Family Friendly Day and will feature the music of another Grand Lake favorite, Darrel Lee, from 11 am to 3pm. This is the time to be there and put in your vote for the People’s Choice! Plus there will be all sorts of fun activities throughout the day for the kids.
The South Grand Lake Lions Club is the largest Lions Club in the state of Oklahoma and among the most active! The future of this organization and its projects solely depends on donations and support of our fundraisers. The Grand Lake BBQ Festival is not only a fundraiser but a family event for the entire Grand Lake community and visitors.
There are still great sponsorship opportunities available as well, so if you’ve got a local business or just want to support a great cause, then visit the Grand Lake BBQ website to find out how you can help.
And keep your calendar clear because Friday and Saturday, May 17 & 18, are going to be great fun at the 2013 Grand Lake BBQ Festival.
