The last week in August always means it’s time for the annual Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo in Vinita.
This has grown into a week long celebration of Will Rogers, Vinita and the great cowboy heritage of this area.
The 2013 big event kick offs Wednesday morning, August 28th, with the annual Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo Parade as part of All Settlers Day reunion, which runs throughout the afternoon at the Craig County Community Center at the Fairgrounds until 6 pm.

Then, from Wednesday night through Saturday night, it’s the rodeo, beginning with the Grand Entry nightly at 7:30 pm and the rodeo events beginning at 8 pm.

- Steer Wrestling
- Calf Roping
- Team Roping
- And, Yes…BULL RIDING!
Wednesday night at the rodeo is Wrangler National Patriot Night with a recognition for all Branches of the Military with a musical salute.
Thursday night, August 29th, is Cherokee Nation Appreciate Night, where anyone with a Blue Card/CDIB Card gets in general admission for free.
Friday night is McKids Night at the Rodeo, with every child 12 and under getting free admission with a paid adult.
And finally, the 77th Annual Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo wraps up Saturday, August 31st, with a special Chicks-N-Chaps Women’s rodeo clinic from 3pm until 5:30 pm. Yes, these chicks are Tough Enough to Wear Pink!
The Saturday night rodeo is Veterans Night, and includes American Legion Cash Drawings of $1,000 for 1st prize, $500 for 2nd prize and $250 for 3rd prize.
