Bass Fishing at Grand Lake – Best in Oklahoma, Again!

Once again, Grand Lake has been named the best bass fishing lake in Oklahoma by Bassmaster Magazine in it’s 3rd annual ranking of the 100 best bass fishing lakes in the country, and stays in the Top 20 nationally, coming in at #19 in the 2014 rankings.

Further, the magazine proclaims that Grand Lake is the best jerkbait lake in the nation!

The complete rankings can be seen at the slideshow on the bassmaster.com website at this link.

It really has been a banner year for fishing at Grand Lake, all kicked off with the 2013 Bassmasters Classic over a year ago and following through with the Grand Lake Extravaganza, which is currently running through May 18th.

All of this momentum has brought great tournaments throughout the spring and continues to create national buzz for Grand Lake as truly one of the best fishing destinations in the entire United States.

Just last weekend there were 587 teams in the 2014 Falcon Rods Grand Challenge.

And even with all the big tournaments and great press, it has been a tough spring season for fishing with colder than usual temperatures and dramatic temperature changes.

Hopefully, this warmer weather from the past few days will get the lake to a temperature where the fishing will be more consistent and predictable as we move through the rest of May, even with a cold front coming through and a chance of storms.

The Grand Lake Extravaganza, which has had over 70 prize winning fish caught so far in the world’s largest tagged-bass event, will go until May 18th – and everyone that catches a tagged bass will be entered into a $1000 drawing at the end of the event, except winners of a $5,000 or more Grand Prize.

And don’t forget that there is still a $100,000 Grand Prize out there waiting to be caught by you, courtesy of Indigo Sky Casino.

There is still time to register for the event, so go to www.grandlakeextravaganza.com for the official rules and to register or visit one of the participating bait and tackle shops, the Grand Lake Visitor Center in Grove or the Chronicle in Langley.
