Hello Grand Lakers – Here is the latest fishing report from Tony Coatney…
Well, the weather is finally starting to turn around some and the fishing is getting better with it.
Last week we had the FLW Rayovak Tournament, and this week here all week is the The Bass Federation National Championship.
This weekend also is the Nichols Marine Tournament Series which brings another 300 boats and they bring a lot of money to the Grand Lake area.
April 1st was also the start of the Grand Lake Extravaganza and yes, all those tagged bass out there is a great deal. Even one of my customers, Mike Epperson, caught a tagged fish while out with me on Sunday. He didn’t win the big prize, but he did win some free play at Indigo Sky Casino, so maybe he can turn it into a big prize!
The bottom line is the fish are out there and can be caught. But, sorry guys, you’ll have to wait until next week for me to give you the lowdown on the large mouth bass as I’m fishing a big tournament this weekend and sure don’t want to give away my secrets!
As for the other fish out there:
- White bass are doing very good way up the river
- Crappie have been getting better. Had some friends catch a few towards the banks. It’s still a little early, but it will jump real soon
- Haven’t heard anything from Jerry on the catfish
- Spoonbill – the river is running hard and they should be up the rivers for spawn now
That’s all for now, until next time…Good Luck Fishing…from Tony Coatney.
