Summertime, and the living is easy, at Oklahoma’s Grand Lake. And the fishing has been great as well.
Here is the first official fishing report from Grand Lake for summer 2014 from Tony Coatney, local professional fisherman and guide.
Hello Grand Lakers!
Well this last week I had some very interesting people out fishing. Long time friend Gene Bicknell, who was the majority owner in Pizza Hut, and Tom Caughlin, from Walmart.
It was a really great weekend, let me tell you. I don’t really get in to listening to speakers but I sat and listened to those two talk and I could listen to their stories all night long.
Tom and Gene both know everyone and it was very interesting listening to them both tell stories on things they have learned and the people they have learned from.
But enough about that. What about the fishing at Grand Lake?
Large mouth has turned on! They are finally doing their post spawn bite, the warm weather has helped.
White bass are starting to school and been catching them like crazy. Limited out in 40 minutes a couple of times in the past week.
Crappie fishing is great, catching them like crazy. Mostly in the deep brush piles.
Catfish are in the rocks spawning.
Spoonbill are jumping everywhere, so look out.
