Here is the latest fishing report and update on the start of the spoonbill season at Grand Lake from Rusty Pritchard of Rusty Pritchard Outdoors. Take it away Rusty:

Hey Folks!

Man we have been smacking the spoonbill for 2 1/2 weeks now and it’s awesome fishing!

Most trips I have been running have been around the Greys Ranch area and the mouth of Wolf Creek.

We’ve caught around 115 spoonbill so far and have caught some tanks this season!!!

Monster Grand Lake spoonbill

Another Grand Lake monster!

Had some clients in from Alabama a couple of days ago and they smashed an 80 pounder! Plus, we’ve put several 60 pounds + fish in the boat already this winter too!

I’m running three pounds of weight and using Catfish Warrior rods and 80 pound Power Pro line.

I’m also using Spoonbill King 10/0 barbless hooks.

If you are not on my Facebook page come friend me on there and watch the action unfold everyday!

Took a catfish trip out the other day and did really well in the main river channel over by the mouth of Elk River.

I was running my sonar along the channel edge searching busted up schools of shad.

Then I anchor out on them and can cast all around the boat and tear em up!

I’m using cut shad on 8/0 Team Catfish Double Action hooks.

The key to finding the blues right now is finding the busted up schools!

I’ve heard of a few people picking up some white bass and crappie up Spring River. Most of what I’ve heard they are up by the piers to the boathouse on the right.

2″ GoGo Minnows have been the lure of choice for most.

Remember, I have awesome gift certificates for that hard to buy for person in your family for Christmas and birthdays!! And, make sure to look me up on Facebook!
