Summer heat is here, and so is Rusty Pritchard with the latest Grand Lake fishing report.
Take it away, Rusty:
The white bass action has been great!
The evening bite has been the best with the white bass doing a lot of surfacing all over mid lake and around Sailboat Bridge area!
We have really been down sizing our baits to match the size of shad they are busting out in the open. We’ve been throwing 1/4 rattletraps and 2″ Go Go Minnows.
Bow fishing trips are picking up now that the water levels are starting to level out some. Water clarity is getting better also.
We’ve been shooting a lot of fish in grass flats and rocky points – we’ve shot some big buffalo and few big gar the last few trips!
It’s going to get better and better all summer now!
Blue cats are starting to wind down from spawn now and are moving back out to main lake.
Drifting will start picking up with cut bait.
This time of year I use 5/0 team catfish double action hooks on Carolina rigs. I’d focus out on 15-25 foot of water right now.
Shad are everywhere so getting bait shouldn’t be a problem!
