Welcome back Rusty Pritchard with another Grand Lake fishing report….
Well we’ve had a great second half of summer for bow fishing – my clients have definitely slung a lot of arrows!
Bow fishing will continue to be good through most of this month. We are starting to see more and more bigger gar coming up to feed at night the last couple weeks.
I got the pleasure of taking out Allen Treadwell, professional hunter from Bass Pro Shop last week! Great guy for sure and they got some great film of some good kills!!
Whitebass continues to be really good in the evenings behind Governors Island and Sweet Water. They are topping really good!
We’ve been cranking a 2″ Go Go Minnow as fast as we can just below the surface through the topping schools.
Bendable Minnows are still working mid day on humps and points.
It won’t be long and the Fall bite will fire up – windy points will be great all day!
Catfish are being caught great on jugs right now!
We are in between the fall bite and the summer pattern right now.
Fish are being caught up fairly shallow and out in the deeper water. I graphed out around Governors island two nights ago and there is still a really defined thermocline down around 40′.
Best bet right now would be drag cut bait in 12-25′ of water. Fishing should really pick up in the up coming few weeks!
I hear great reports of crappie being caught in brush from 5-10′ of water. Go Go Minnows would be a great bait to go after them with!
We are taking early booking for spoonbill right now!
If you are going to need a weekend for this season you might book early to get the dates you want. We run trips 7 days a week but weekends always go first!
