Here is a current fishing report for Grand Lake, courtesy of Rusty Pritchard…
Spoonbill fishing is winding down for the year. I boated somewhere around 950 spoonbill since December!
It was a great season and I want to think all my clients that came and fished for spoonbill with me this season!!
The biggest spoonbill we put in the boat this year was a giant 106 pounder caught by a client from Missouri that made #2 rod and reel record for Grand Lake!!
My guide service currently holds rod and reel records for Grand Lake #1,#2,#4, and #5!!
Make sure to book early if your wanting a weekend come December for your chance at a monster spoonbill.
I took some really good catfish trips the past few days. We had 38 nice blues on Sunday with a group from Webb City, MO.
I’m still fishing the shallow water flats with cut bait on 5/0 Team Catfish Double Action hooks. Almost all of our cats are being caught in 2′ or less of water…it’s been fun action!
Took my first bow fishing trip of the year last Saturday. The action was super hot!!
My client slung a ton of arrows and killed quite a few! We saw tons and tons of gar!
If your looking for a good chance at killing a good gar now is the time to give me a call,
The action will be good all summer long but the gar shooting is as good as it will be all summer right now.
I heard one report of some white bass being caught in Elk River. They were dropping 1 ounce Fle-Fly Bendable Minnows to the bottom and slabbing for them.
As June gets closer and closer we will start seeing the white bass pulling back into the lake and the action should be awesome with the shad kill we had this last winter!
I’m still hearing reports of crappie still being caught on the banks spawning. We have been throwing 2″ Go Go minnows.
The crappie should start pulling back out on the deeper brush piles and really start biting now. After the spawn those big females put the feed bag on to fatten back up after the hard spawn!
