It’s that time of year where the skies light up with fireworks all around Grand Lake as we celebrate the Independence Day holiday.

And while people (you!) spend a ton of money locally and buy fireworks for your own personal shows all over the lake, there are the great ‘on the water’ fireworks shows that you don’t want to miss.

With the 4th of July being a Monday this year, the on the water shows will take place on Saturday and Sunday nights, so you can make the most of your Grand Lake holiday weekend.

Here is your 2016 Grand Lake Fireworks schedule:

  • Grand Lake Fireworks – Saturday, July 2nd in Disney

The Grand Lake Fireworks show has been lighting up the skies over Disney and South Grand Lake for 8 years now. This year’s 5th Annual Cliff Elliott Memorial Fireworks Show will get lit about 9:30 pm on Saturday night, July 2nd between the spillways in Disney, giving people for miles around a great view of this awesome show.

  • Monkey Island Firworks – Saturday, July 2nd

The Monkey Island Airport will be the place for the annual Monkey Island Fireworks show. Events this year include a car show, air show, aerobatic thrill rides and tandem sky-diving throughout the day. From 4 pm to 7 pm The George Brothers Band will entertain followed by fireworks at appx 9:30.

  • Horse Creek Fireworks Show – Saturday, July 2nd

At the Bridge to Nowhere in Horse Creek.

  • City of Grove Fireworks – Sunday, July 3rd

The City of Grove will host their annual Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks on Sunday, July 3rd at Wolf Creek Park. Billed as an all day event, details for this event have been hard to come by, but you can expect FREE watermelon courtesy of the Grove Fire Department, live music, fun for kids and the fireworks show will get going about 9:30 pm out on the water of Wolf Creek.

  • Duck Creek Fireworks – Sunday, July 3rd.

The Grand Daddy of all Grand Lake Fireworks shows is undoubtedly the Duck Creek Fireworks. This year’s Duck Creek Fireworks show will take place on Sunday, July 3rd. As usual, you can expect a full evening of awesome fly-overs by the warbirds and others (there are always others, no?) and then the show itself will start at dusk. Visit their website at http://www.duckcreekfireworksok.com/ for details and updates.

Those are the biggies…the ‘on the water’ shows.

The communities surrounding Grand Lake will also be having their own 2016 fireworks shows, including

  • Vinita Fireworks – July 1st at the football stadium
  • Pryor Fireworks – July 3rd at the football stadium
  • Jay Fireworks – July 4th at the football stadium
  • Miami Fireworks – July 4th at Riverview Park

So there you go…there is your complete schedule of fireworks at Grand Lake in 2016.

Make plans now to come to Grand Lake for the July 4th holiday. And buy fireworks. And blow them up. And buy more fireworks. And blow them up. And then watch everybody else blow stuff up.

It’s what we do at Grand Lake!
