Well the weather folks say it’s going to get pretty cold next week, but we have another beautiful fall weekend at Grand Lake to get through before that happens.
And, there is plenty going on in Grove this weekend to keep you busy and take your mind of the impending cold.
So, here’s what’s going on:
The annual Grove Christmas Open House takes place this Friday and Saturday, November 7th & 8th.
This great kick-off to the Christmas shopping season includes fun, prizes and sales at merchants, restaurants and boutiques throughout Grove.
And while you are running all over Grove checking out the great sales and shopping locally for the Christmas season, make sure you check out the two new bakeries and sandwich shops in town – Bon Appetit Bakery & Catering and the brand new Ugly Mug Bakery.
Har-ber Village Pioneer Days
Har-Ber Village Museum in Grove will bring to life the days of years past during the annual Pioneer Days celebration on Friday and Saturday, November 7th & 8th.
Visitors will be able to explore Dutch oven cooking and tin oven baking, churning butter, playing period games, preparing and spinning flax, banjo making (sat. only), natural dyeing, soap making, blacksmithing, lace making (Sat. only), broom making, knitting and crocheting, flint knapping (Sat. only) and weaving on a barn loom.
Or, Visit with the school marm, listen to old time country, gospel and other period music (Sat. only), hear stories, print on a printing press, shell and grind corn (Fri. only), sausage making (Sat. only) and more!
Friday is geared for school field trips and space is limited. Groups should call ASAP to reserve a space on Friday.
No reservations needed for Saturday as everything is available with regular admission. Picnics are encouraged as the Back Porch Cafe will not be open, but we will have Indian tacos and one other food vendor.
So Grove will be a busy place this weekend, but that’s a good thing as we enjoy the final days of fall at Grand Lake.
And, don’t think you’re too late to check out the fall colors as the foliage around Grand Lake still has all sorts of beautiful and vibrant colors.
Whatever you do…enjoy yourself. Your at Grand Lake!
