The last weekend of October promises warm weather and plenty of cool things going on around Grand Lake.
From 4-wheelers to scary boats and halloween celebrations, you’ll find all sorts of great activities around the lake this weekend.
And with the warm weather, make sure you get out and enjoy the beautiful colors that are showing up all around the lake.
Obviously it’s awesome to get out on the lake in a boat to check out the foliage around the lake, but if that isn’t possible, here is an article with some tips on some great driving routes to check out the fall foliage.
Anyway, on to the weekend!
Rocktoberfest in Disney
It will be wall to wall rock crawling and four-wheeling in Disney this weekend at the annual Rocktoberfest event.
Off-road enthusiasts from all over come to town for the awesome rock crawling that is found all the way from Little Blue State Park to the rocks below the spillways at Pensacola Dam.
In fact, as of Thursday afternoon, a bunch of trailers and RV’s with all sorts of off-road toys have already been seen in the South Grand Lake area.
While your there, make sure you stop by the Town of Disney City Hall as the Grand Lake Fireworks folks will be hosting a pancake breakfast in the morning and then having BBQ and catfish throughout the day as the first fundraiser of the year for the 2015 Grand Lake Fireworks.
Historical Haunted Halloween at Har-Ber Village
The annual Historical Haunted Halloween takes place at Har-Ber Village Museum on Saturday the 25th from 5:30 until 8 pm.
This is great fun for all ages with historical demonstrations and reenactments, stories and music, plus the always popular kids costume parade at 7 pm.
Halloween ‘Ghost Float’ Boat Parade
The ‘Ghost Float’ Boat Parade has become Monkey Island’s favorite party at the end of October every year, and this year’s party is all set for this Saturday, Oct 25th.
Hosted by The Landings, this year’s fun kicks off with a Captain & Crew Party at The Landings at 4 pm.
At 5 pm, the kids are all invited for a little trick or treating before the boat parade starts at 6:30.
There is an On Land costume contest for both 18 & Over and 18 & Under.
For the boats, there are 2 prize categories…32′ and under and then bigger than that – with prizes for best costumes, best decor, most creative and best all around.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be a Monkey Island party without an after party at Big Shots!
For more info on the boat parade, call The Landings at (918) 257-4440.
So there you have it…yet another great weekend of Grand Lake fun. And don’t forget – it’s fall – and the fishing is great!
