THE END IS NEAR….for Tornado Siren raising in the Cleora area of Grand Lake.

The residents in the Cleora area can almost hear it now. Not that they want to hear it in action, but at least rest more comfortably knowing it is there.

It’s the end of raising money through donations and gifts for a much needed tornado siren that will serve the entire Cleora area.

The full amount necessary to pay for the siren, pole and Weather Warn system has been collected! But there is more.

Burning of the socks

Proceeds from T-Shirt sales at the annual Burning of the Socks at Harbor’s View Marina will benefit the Cleora Siren Fund.

All that is left to pay is the sales tax on these items. Yep, sales tax.

There are two great fun events happening to help raise the rest of that money that is needed for the Cleora Tornado Siren!!

Saturday, May 3rd at 4:00 p.m., Harbors View Marina is hosting its annual BURNING OF THE SOCKS party.

Judy Florida, General Manager at Harbor’s View, has offered to donate proceeds of T-shirt sales for that event to the Siren Fund as well as money raised in the CHUCK THE DUCK contest.

Plus, members of the Siren Fund committee will be on hand to accept your donation and provide an updated progress report on the siren.

The Burning of the Socks takes place on Saturday, May 3rd at 4 pm at Harbor’s View Marina on Duck Creek and is a completely free, family fun event with food, drinks – including a couple of free kegs of beer – and live music.

It is asked that you please RSVP for the Burning of the Socks so they will be sure to have plenty of food for everyone. You can do that on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/441940019242837/

Then, Saturday May 24th between noon and 3 p.m., the Crace Shores Homeowners Association and Kelly’s Bar & Deli at Red Arrow Marina will be hosting a fish fry on the deck at Red Arrow. They will collect free-will donations which will benefit the Siren Fund.

Donations may also still be made directly to the Tornado Siren Fund and mailed to:

Additionally, anyone may call:

So get out and enjoy the beautiful spring happenings around Grand Lake and help finish off the fundraising for the Cleora Siren Fund.
