May 2015 at Grand Lake is going to kick off with a perfect weekend of ideal weather and events going on that offer something for everyone.

Nice. That’s what Grand Lake is all about!

Last weekend was awesome…with a record setting night on Saturday for at least one Grand Lake restaurant and all sorts of people both on the lake and off the lake.

But that was last weekend. This is THIS weekend at Grand Lake – here are some of the highlights:

  • Farm & Agriculture Days at Har-Ber Village – This is the 2nd weekend in a row of a special, themed event at Har-Ber Village that is designed for Grand Lake area school kids on Friday and then the general public on Saturday. Har-Ber Village is a true Grand Lake gem located on the water in Grove. Check it out…
  • Art In the Garden & Community Open House – Lendonwood Gardens in Grove hosts their annual Art In the Garden and Community Open House this Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm. If you’ve never been to Lendonwood Gardens…this is another place you must visit. And this time of year with all the spring flowers in bloom…Wow!
  • Burning of the Socks at Harbors View Marina – This is the 6th annual sock burning event which serves as a signaling of the passage of the need for socks for Grand Lakers. And this year’s weather will be perfect to watch those socks burn! Live music and free food and drink make this a can’t miss on your Grand Lake calendar. The party starts at 4 pm and that big plume of smoke you’ll see at that back of Duck Creek at 7 pm is a whole bunch of socks going up in smoke!
  • Fiesta Del Grande Celebration – The Fiesta Del Grande Celebration takes place at the Arrowhead Yacht Club family of properties (Arrowhead, Cherokee Yacht Club, Cedar Port Marina, Hammerhead Marina, VIP Pizza & Sharky’s Bar). This weekend marks the Grand Opening of the season for VIP Pizza and Sharky’s Bar, with Sharky’s featuring the ‘holler and swaller’ of Grand Lake’s favorite Lickitty Split on Saturday night. Also Saturday is a Scavenger Hunt that will have you searching near and wide to win great prizes from Cedar Port Marina. Arrowhead and Cherokee Yacht Clubs have specials running from Thursday through Monday and everything is open to the public with an invitation to you to come out and check out what these great properties have to offer. And, it’s all capped off with a Cinco de Mayo Fireworks celebration at dark on Monday night in Duck Creek!

That should be enough to keep you busy on Saturday, no doubt.

But of course there is more, including the 18th Annual Falcon Grand Challenge running out of Martin’s Landing on Saturday, the Skeeter XFL guys running out of Wolf Creek Park on Sunday.

You can also get your rodeo on at Rodeo Miami at the Miami Fairgrounds on both Friday and Saturday nights, May 1 & 2. Gates open at 5 with kids activities at 6:30 and the rodeo performance at 7:30.

So there is plenty to do this weekend at Grand Lake. And of course most of the waterfront bars and restaurants are open as well.

Also…if you can’t make it to the lake this weekend but are looking forward to coming this summer and you don’t have a place to stay…you better get on it. Grand Lake resort properties will be pretty darn full for the next few months.

There you have it…plenty to do this weekend at Grand Lake…get out there and enjoy it!
