The Grand Lake Sail and Power Squadron will offer an advanced course in Seamanship beginning on November 4, 2013.
The Seamanship course is a natural first/next step in building a foundation for confidence and competence for safe and enjoyable boating on the water. It extends the knowledge and skills of the boater in handling and maneuvering a vessel, either sail or power.
The course provides a better understanding of how boats behave under various conditions including close quarters and open water operations.
Knowledge and skills are increased in the areas of anchoring, emergencies, rules of the road, and marlinspike/basic knots.
The Seamanship class now includes an “On The Water” component as you will join a United States Power Squadron certified instructor on Grand Lake.
The Grand Lake Sail and Power Squadron’s boating courses are now open to the public as well as to squadron members. All courses are taught by instructors certified by the United States Power Squadrons.
