Scheduled for this Friday evening, May 6, the fifth annual Grand River Dam Authority Lake Launch event will be the kickoff to a “Star Spangled Summer” on the waters of GRDA’s Grand and Hudson lakes.
Since 2012, GRDA has been hosting the annual lake launch at its Ecosystems and Education Center in Langley as a way to welcome the public back to the water just ahead of the summer boating season.
The event is an opportunity to meet the GRDA Lake Operations Team, hear an update on the “State of the lake” from GRDA Chief Executive Officer Dan Sullivan and also enjoy free food and music.
Some lake area businesses will also be setting up display booths and there will be plenty of opportunity for guests to win door prizes.
“We do this each year as a way to kick off the lake season but also to give the public a chance to interact with our lake team,” said GRDA Corporate Communications Director Justin Alberty. “It is a chance for them to ask questions face-to-face, hear updates on lake rules and just get to know our team. We invite the public to come visit us that evening.”
This year’s theme is “Star Spangled Summer” and guests that wear red, white and blue to the event will have an opportunity to win special door prizes. There will also be a fun photo booth and other activities.
As in past years, this event will be held at the GRDA Ecosystems and Education Center in Langley, located on Highway 28, just west of the Pensacola Dam. The event is free of charge and runs 6PM to 9PM.
