The 2018 Grand Lake BBQ Festival, a KCBS sanctioned event presented by the South Grand Lake Lions Club, will take place May 18th and 19th at the ball fields in Langley, OK.
This year will be a Memorial Event to honor Mark Gibson, Charter Member of the South Grand Lake Lions, who has managed the Lions Club food tent every year.
The proceeds from this event will benefit the Ketchum Warrior Backpack Program. This year, we were able to send food home for the weekend for 104 students.
The purse for this year’s event will be $11,000, $1,000 of which has been granted by Smithfield Foods.
Once again, the South Grand Lake Lions Club will be serving delicious barbecue provided by Moo Chew Sooey.
Advance tickets to Saturday’s event can be purchased at Grand Outdoor Living in Disney; Southern Darlin’s Boutique in Langley, Langley Tag Agency, Valley National Bank and St. Francis Medical Center in Langley.
Tickets will be $8.00 in advance and $10.00 at the gate. DJ Binger Case will be playing music from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The event will be held on the east side of the ball fields where the City of Langley has installed 56 permanent 50 amp RV spots in support of the continued growth of this event.
This great setup has allowed us to accommodate more competitors and ultimately increase our support to the community and the Backpack Program.
Friday night will be a chance to hang out and visit with the competitors.
On Saturday, contestants will have the opportunity to enter up to four Meat Entries, with cash prizes for First through Tenth Place in each category, and with Grand Champion taking $2,500 and Reserve Champion $1,800.
We invite everyone to come out to the Festival to have a good time and support your community.
