The 2018 Pelican Festival, the 35th annual sponsored by the Grand Lake Association, will be Wednesday through Saturday, October 10 through 13 at Wolf Creek Park, located off Highway 59 in Grove.
The carnival by Pride Amusements will kick things off Wednesday and the arts and crafts show and other activities are set for Friday and Saturday.
More than 3,500 people are expected to visit this year’s Pelican Festival, which will include an arts & crafts show, Pelican sightseeing boat tours, live and exciting entertainment under the tent Friday night and Saturday afternoon and night, and fall festivities for the whole family.
According to Jay Cranke, executive director, Grand Lake Association, the festival is the highlight of summer’s end in the lake area. “This event brings residents and visitors together for an autumn celebration at Grand Lake. Along with enjoying the pelicans with the lake tours, there truly is something for everyone.”
That something includes carnival rides, musical performances, pelican lake tours, arts & crafts, food trucks, free face painting, free balloon animals, car show and a parade.
The festival is hosted by the Grand Lake Association with the Cherokee Casino Grove as headline sponsor.
Free entertainment includes performances by Let’s Zeppelin on Friday night from 7:30-9:30, NightTrain on Saturday from 2-4:30 p.m. and Next Halen on Saturday evening from 7:30 until 10.
These events take place under the Cherokee Casino Grove entertainment tent.
On both Friday and Saturday, Pelican Boat Tours are available for $20, call (918) 786-2289 for reservations.
Art & Crafts and food trucks will be on hand from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Carnival by Pride Amusements is open from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., Wednesday through Friday and from noon until 10 p.m. on Saturday.
The parade, organized by the Grove Rotary Club, begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
