Artworks and flowers will share the spotlight on Saturday, May 2, at the Lendonwood Gardens Art in the Garden and Community Open House.
The public is invited to enjoy arts and crafts against a backdrop of flowering trees, shrubs and plants at the botanical garden located at 1308 Har-Ber Road in Grove.
Admission will be free for this special event, which combines an art exhibit and sale with the chance to explore the eight-acre garden during a beautiful time of year. Rain date for the combined event is Saturday, May 9.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., booths will be set up throughout the garden to display and sell a wide variety of artworks, ranging from hand-made jewelry to pottery to quilts to paintings. Artists will include professionals as well as young students and accomplished craftsmen.
“It’s always a pleasure to display the works of the diverse and talented artists and artisans in our area,” said Cindy Reynolds, Lendonwood board member who is coordinating the event. “This will be a perfect opportunity for the public to enjoy both the arts and a gorgeous garden at the same time.”
Currently, Lendonwood is abloom with azaleas, rhododendrons, dogwoods, peonies and more. Colorful Japanese maples draw the eye along winding pathways lined with hostas, oxalis, viburnums and other beautiful plants.
Lendonwood Gardens is open year-round during daylight hours. The garden is operated by a local board of directors with the help of dedicated volunteers.
