Bass Pro Shops U.S. Open Grand Lake Qualifier
October 16 @ 7:00 am - 2:00 pm
They are calling it the Grandest Tournament in Fishing History, so naturally, there will be a qualifier at Grand Lake for the Bass Pro Shops U.S. Open National Bass Fishing Tournament on October 16, 2021.
This is an amateur bass fishing tournament for the “regular folks” who love to bass fish– with a payout to the winning team of ONE MILLION DOLLARS – and $4.3 million in overall cash prizes!
And guess what? Pros are not allowed to enter the U.S. Open National Bass Fishing Tournament. It was created for families who love to fish and amateurs who spend their weekends on the water competing in local tournaments.
Grand Lake in Oklahoma is one of the eight qualifying lakes for the event. The championship will be held on Table Rock Lake in Missouri and televised on NBC.
Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris says he wanted to hold the open to celebrate Bass Pro’s 50 year anniversary, to celebrate the customers, and to help with conservation efforts. Morris says with matching donations by Bass Pro and Toyota, they will be able to donate 100-percent of the entry fees to the National Habitat Initiative to help improve lakes around the country… which will make fishing better for you and me!
Envisioned as the “ultimate owner’s appreciation event,” this first-of-its-kind national tournament invites owners of Tracker, Ranger, Nitro, Triton, Sun Tracker, Tahoe and MAKO brand boats to compete in two-person teams. With proceeds benefitting conservation, the event is being created exclusively for amateurs including weekend tournament buddies, parents, grandparents, and youngsters, giving the everyday anglers, friends and families the chance to win big!
Entry fees are $450 per person, $250 for kids 12 – 17, and free for kids under 12.
There’s never been another bass fishing tournament like this one… for the everyday angler. Oklahoma’s Own Jimmy Houston Outdoors calls it the “ultimate fishing tournament.”
The qualifying events will happen between March and November… with the championship set for November 19. The Grand Lake’s qualifier is October 16.
Registration will be open soon and Morris expects a high demand for entries – only 250 teams are eligible for each event and boat owners can only register for one qualifying event. Morris says it’s likely a “lottery” will be created to keep it fair.
