Get ready for the return of the Cherokee Classic Golf Tournament, recently announced by the sponsoring entities; The Cherokee and Arrowhead Yacht Clubs along with their partnering sponsor the Coves Golf Club.
The event takes place on Friday, September 25th and the organizers are promising a golf social event like no other previously seen on Grand Lake.
Cherokee Yacht Club general manager Tom McKibben explained the event like this, “We have great members and facilities and The Coves Golf Club has great members and facilities. Combining the two creates a very special opportunity.”
Socially, the tournament will begin with Bloody Marys and Mimosas on the Coves pro shop patio before teeing off. Beverages and lunch will be served on the course during play and an evening awards banquet at the Cherokee Yacht Club will wrap up the day.
In addition to these social activities the prizes up for grabs make this a truly unique event.
Participants will attempt to win prizes worth over $300,000. A player having a hole-in-one on one of the designated holes will win a new Cobalt 200, a new Harris Pontoon 240CX, a new Malibu Axis T22 or a new Chevrolet truck.
At the end of the tournament, all players will try to make a hole-in-one on a short 135 yard hole. The prize for the player doing that will be $100,000. This will be a once in a life time opportunity for even life-long golfers who participate.
The format is a four person scramble with two members from each team being Cherokee/Arrowhead members and/or Coves Golf Club Members. The field is limited to 22 teams.
The entrance fee is $100 per player plus $40 for non-playing dinner guests. Entrance forms are available at Cherokee Yacht Club and the Coves Golf Club’s pro shop. Sign-ups can be individual or to a specific two/three/foursome.
Entrance forms must be received by September 22nd.
