Celebrate summer and the lake life this June 1st & 2nd at Grove & Grand Lake’s First Annual Toes in the Grand Summer Kickoff Festival at Wolf Creek Park.
Billed as Mid-America’s largest free Trop Rock music festival, music plays a big role in the festival.
Both Friday and Saturday will feature great music on the festival’s lakeside Cherokee Casino Grove Entertainment Stage.
The music begins on Friday at 2 p.m. with the Blonde Stranger Band, a great band from Springfield, Missouri.
The headline act for Friday night is Rick Lamb & the Phin Addicts, a Trop Rock music favorite, who will take the stage at 6 p.m. and play until 9 p.m.
After Rick Lamb & the Phin Addicts’ performance on Friday night, make plans to attend the Official Festival After Party at the Cherokee Casino Grove and enjoy the great tunes of the Southern Drawl Band that begins at 10 p.m.
From Tennessee, the Southern Drawl Band’s music has been described as “Southern Rockin’ country music with a twist of lime, distilled in the backwoods of Tennessee.”
In addition to great music, The Southern Drawl Band brings some very impressive Trop Rock credentials.
Over the past 5 years, the band has won the Trop Rock Music Association’s Band of the Year Award twice and the Association’s Horizon Award, plus the Beachfront Radio Award’s Entertainer, Band, Album, and Song of the Year.
On Saturday, music on the Cherokee Casino Grove Entertainment Stage begins at 10:30 a.m. with the talented Greg Dragoo, an up and coming Trop Rock performer from Oklahoma City.
At 2 p.m. the COPA Reefer Band – another band with Central Oklahoma roots – will begin performing, playing some Trop Rock favorite cover tunes plus some of their own original songs that are “Trop Rock with an Oklahoma twist.”
The Saturday night headliner is Jerry Diaz and Hanna’s Reef from Houston, Texas, another previous Trop Rock Music Association’s Band of the Year Award winner who always put on a great show described best as “Texas Beach Music.”
For those attending the festival, don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs.
Also, please note that outside alcoholic beverages are not allowed inside the festival. A beer tent will be located adjacent to the stage area for those interested.
Join In the Island Fun and Games
Right along with the theme of fun with a tropical twist, Patricia Island Country Club and Mulligans are sponsoring a number of fun events called “Island Fun and Games” over the course of both days.
The fun and games begin on Friday evening with the Grand Lake Hula Hoop-Off beginning at 5 p.m. – with the winning “Hula Hooper” winning $100!
After the Hoop-Hoff, at 5:30 p.m. there will be a Conga Line Rehearsal – a chance to practice for what will be Oklahoma’s Longest Conga Line taking place the next day!
Saturday’s Island Fun and Games will include a Limbo Contest at 1 p.m., with a $50 prize for the winner.
The final “Fun & Games” event of the festival is the big one: Oklahoma’s Longest Conga Line, and it will be taking place at 5 p.m.
Join in the fun and get into the Conga Line, make the record books, and you may be the lucky winner of a $250 prize!
Explore Grove & Grand Lake by Boat or By Air
The Toes in the Grand Summer Kickoff Festival will feature a couple of different fun and unique ways to enjoy Grove and Grand Lake with both helicopter and boat tours.
The helicopter rides will be provided by Tulsa County Helicopters and will provide folks a “bird’s eye” view of the Toes in the Grand Festival and Grand Lake on their scenic tours.
The festival is also partnering with No Wake Guide Service to provide informative, scenic boat tours of Grand Lake both Friday and Saturday of the festival.
The boat tours are a beautiful way to experience Grand Lake, view wildlife, people-watch, and enjoy a beautiful Grand Lake day.
The hour-long boat tours begin both days at 11 a.m., with new tours departing every 30 minutes. The last tour each day will depart the park at 5 p.m. The cost of the hour-long boat tours are only $10.
Kid’s Zone – Inflatables and Trackless Train Ride
A festival for young and old alike, the Toes in the Grand Kid’s Zone will offer children a selection of fun, nautical-themed inflatables to enjoy.
Wristbands will be sold for the inflatables and the kids can enjoy a full day of fun for one low price.
Additionally, there will be a Trackless Train giving rides of Wolf Creek Park on a beautiful trackless train – sure to impress those little (and big) train enthusiasts out there!
Food Trucks and Vendors
In addition to all of the other festival fun, the Toes in the Grand is also a special edition of Grove’s Food Truck Friday event – located at Wolf Creek Park instead of Downtown Grove and lasting not one but two days!
A wide variety of food trucks will be at the festival both days offering some tasty treats, to include festival favorites and everything from barbecue to Caribbean-inspired dishes.
In addition to the food trucks, there will be a good selection of vendors offering their wares at the festival – ranging from home décor items and outdoor furniture to lake-inspired clothing and jewelry, and most everything in between!
On Saturday, June 2nd will be the Toes in the Grand Car Show sponsored by Grand Savings Bank.
Registration for the show is from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. that day and only $20, with judging beginning at 1 p.m. and the winners announced at 3 p.m. on the festival stage.
Organizers expect a great selection of beautiful cars, trucks, and corvettes on displayed at Wolf Creek Park.
Tiki Man 5K – Fun Run
The Tiki Man 5K Fun Run – sponsored by the TSET Healthy Living Program – will both start and end at Wolf Creek Park and feature some beautiful views of Grand Lake along the route.
The Fun Run will kick off at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 2. Registrations will be accepted until 7:30 am on race day. Entry fee is just $30.
