The 20th Annual Hook-N-Cook Off, a nationally recognized catfish cooking competition, is scheduled for Saturday, September 28th at the South Grand Lake Regional Airport outside of Ketchum.
Over the years this event put on by the Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce has grown to be among the most popular of the annual Grand Lake events, attracting people from throughout the region to showcase their catfish cooking skills or just to appreciate some delicious catfish, hush puppies and coleslaw.
But it’s not all fun and games. The teams that are cooking are competing for the Best Catfish, Best Hush Puppies and Best Coleslaw awards. Those will be awarded based on the votes of 9 lucky people who are anonymous judges for the event.
The big prize always seems to be the Peoples Choice Award, where teams are encouraged to cheat their way to getting the most tickets at their booth, by any means legal and possible.
In addition to the cooking and tasting activities, this annual Grand Lake event features a kids zone, a car & motorcycle show, arts & crafts, vendors and live music from the popular Grand Lake band Lickitty Split.
Also, new this year is a VIP & Cooks appreciation party on Friday Night at Harbor’s View Marina. This party will feature live music, Judy’s famous Shrimp Boil and is open to the public at $20 per person.
It’s only $8 at the door, $7 in advance, and $5 for the kids to have a blast on Saturday and get a belly full of delicious Grand Lake catfish at the 2013 Hook-N-Cook Off at the South Grand Lake Regional Airport.
