Arrowhead Yacht Club and South Grand Lakers Helping Children team up annually to present the Polar Bear Plunge at Grand Lake.
Yep, it’s all about jumping in Grand Lake in December – but it is for a GREAT cause.
The 2013 Polar Bear Plunge takes place on Saturday, December 14th at Arrowhead Yacht Club on the Duck Creek arm of Grand Lake with event festivities kicking off at 11am and the actual jump scheduled for 1pm.
Known at the annual ‘Freezin For A Reason’, this event is designed to raise funds to help Grand Lake area children in need during the holiday season with food, clothing and toys.
South Grand Lakers Helping Children is a 501C3 charitable organization that was formed to help Grand Lake area kids in need.
Originally designed to help those in need during the holiday season, the organization has grown to provide assistance throughout the year in the form of living necessities and school supplies for area children.
The organization also puts on the annual Boats, Bikes, Bikinis & BBQ event at Arrowhead every summer, and between the 2 events South Grand Lakers Helping Children is able to raise between $20,000 and $30,000 every year which goes right back into the community on an as needed basis.
But the work is never done as there are children and families in need throughout the South Grand Lake community all through the year.
All jumpers are encouraged to bring a toy, or toys, that will be passed out to local children.
And, even if you don’t want to jump, sponsorships are always accepted (check out the form above) plus you can donate to South Grand Lakers Helping Children throughout the year at the Arrowhead website.
So come on out to Arrowhead on December 14th and take the plunge for a great cause – or just come watch all the crazy people!
