The Bassmaster Classic – actually the GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro – is returning to Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees for the 2016 world championship of bass fishing March 4-6, 2016.

The fishing itself will take place on Grand Lake, but the daily weigh-ins will take place at the BOK Center in Tulsa and the Classic Outdoors Expo will take place across the street from the BOK Center at the Cox Convention Center.

Official hosts of the 2016 Classic will be Tulsa Regional Chamber, VisitTulsa, Grand Lake Association and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.

The total purse for the Bassmaster Classic is over $1 million, with the winner receiving $300,000.

For the past several years Grand Lake has routinely been named one of the Top 20 bass fishing lakes in the US, which makes it a natural to host the ‘Super Bowl of Bass Fishing’ for the 2nd time in a 4 year span.

Back in 2013, Grand Lake and Tulsa hosted the Bassmaster Classic that was said to be a massive success by all involved, and that naturally paved the way for the Classic to return to Grand so soon.

The 2013 Classic included a packed BOK Center for each weigh-in and as many as 5,000 fans braving the cold in Grove at the launch each morning.

Take-off each day will be from the Wolf Creek Park ramp in Grove, which is undergoing a $2.8 million improvement project prior to the Classic to make it even better for the fishermen than it was in 2013 Рand better for all of the Grand Lake users moving forward.

Those improvements¬†include redone ramps with proper slope, improved access to the facility, a new 200′ mooring dock and more.

The Classic coming to Grand back in 2013 was the kick in the pants for Grove to build the Wolf Creek Park facility, and Grove and Grand Lake have benefited ever since with a full tournament schedule on Grand throughout the fishing season thanks to one of the best launch and on-lake tournament facilities in the country.

And with the Classic coming back so soon…it’s just more great news for Grand.

The website is a great resource for you to find places to stay, where to eat, and of course, to stay on top of fishing reports and even hire a Grand Lake fishing guide in advance of The Classic.

It is sure to be another great event on Grand Lake – don’t miss it!
