The water is rising and the fishing at Grand Lake is changing a bit. Here is the latest fishing report, this one from Rusty Pritchard of Pritchard’s Guide Service…
The lake level continues to climb. We are 745.82 with some flood gates open (as of Sunday afternoon, June 8th). If they continue to leave the flood gates open it will keep Honey Creek, Horse Creek, Duck Creek, and Drowning Creek clearer than the main lake!
I ran several trips last week and did pretty good on them before the dirtier water hit. We caught some really good white bass around Wolf Point in Elk River.
My clients were throwing 1 ounce Bendable Minnows and Go-Go minnows made by Fle Fly. These can be picked up at Honey Creek Outdoors and at Grand Lake Sports Center.
I saw quite a few people fishing behind Governors Island while out yesterday fishing for the white bass. It looked like most of them were trolling.
Bow fishing continues to be great – everyone loves slinging arrows at big carp!!
My deck should be fully completed by next week and ready for night trips. If you haven’t tried Bow fishing your really missing out. Give me a call and I’ll put you on em’!
Crappie continue to bite mid lake in the clearer water in brush piles in 10-15′ of water. Again I’m swinging Go-Go minnows and 1/8th ounce heads over the tops of the piles and catching these post spawn crappie.
Catfish are winding down for the spawn. The channels and blues are moving up to the rocks and log jams to begin to spawn. We are catching a few still on cut shad in the shallows but nothing like we were!
In about 3 weeks the drift fishing should get really good on the post spawn fish out on the flats!!
Make sure to tune into KGVE 99.3 FM at 7:45 am and 4:45 pm everyday and listen to our outdoor reports! I do the Monday and Wednesday reports.
