Whitebass are doing really well now most days. I’ve been fishing Horse Creek and mid lake areas. The cemetery hump has been producing good numbers of fish but as the lake clears the fish have been moving out to the main lake again.
I’ve been dropping the Fle-Fly bendable minnows and the Go-Go minnows down and getting them. Both of these baits can be bought at Grand Lake Sport Center or online at http://www.outdoorbrandz.com/.
I’ve been locating the schools on my electronics and drop a marker buoy down on them and backing off and cast to them. Some days they are real finicky and they want the Go-Go minnow reeled real slow right on bottom.
The crappie are really starting to bite again in the main lake brush piles!
Jeff Williams and I went out this week and really caught some super crappie. We boated around 50-60 with well over half them being legal size.
Again we were throwing the Go-Go minnows in the Old Faithful and Fire Cracker color.
We would locate brush in water from 12-20 feet deep and throw out and let the Go-Go swing out over the pile and Bam! Fish On!! Im really happy the crappie have made a big come back on Grand Lake the last couple years!!
Most of the big cats are spawning right now. We have been catching quite a few on the bendable minnow while we were whitebass fishing.
I hear the juggers are doing quite well on the eater size blues out on the feeding flats right now. I also have seen some real good stringers coming from down below the dam.
Bowfishing has been very good right now with the water clearing up. I’ve taken out several guided trips this week and last and my clients have been shooting quite a few fish.
Most of the action has been on my night trips. The buffalo are keying on small rock gravel banks since the willows are starting to run out of water.
If you have never tried this before you need to give me a call and try it!
I furnish all the equipment and I even have a bowfishing crossbow for people who cant pull a bow.
Its great fun and everyone I take out loves it and usually books another trip before we even get off the water! Its great for kids!!
