Another picture perfect September weekend is ahead at Grand Lake, and once again it’s packed with activities from Langley to Grove.

If you plan your Saturday just right, you can take in the best of all the events going on, including Pelican Fest in Grove, the Town of Langley 75th Birthday Celebration and the South Grand Lake Lions Club Annual Chili Cook-Off.

2014 Pelican Festival in Grove

The 31st Annual Pelican Festival takes place this Friday and Saturday, September 26th & 27th, in Grove, OK.

The Pelican Festival always attracts a big crowd to the Grove Civic Center.

This annual event celebrates the fall migration of the American White Pelicans that return to Grand Lake each year.

It’s a busy weekend at the Grove Civic Center with Arts & Crafts all day Friday & Saturday inside and the carnival taking place through 10 pm Saturday night in the parking lot.

Other highlights include the annual Pelican Fest Parade Saturday morning at 10:30, FREE Admission to Har-Ber Village Museum on Saturday and Pelican Tours on the Queen taking place at 7 pm Friday and 2 pm and 7 pm on Saturday at the Cherokee Queen on North Highway 59.

Plus, area favorite Clint Walker performs Friday night from 5-7 pm and Saturday afternoon from 1:30 to 3:30.

So, make your way to Grove and enjoy the 2014 Pelican Festival.

Town of Langley 75th Birthday Celebration

Come CELEBRATE as the Town of Langley celebrates it’s 75th birthday on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Village Park, in Langley.

The Birthday festivities will be packed into a big fun filled day. Things kick off with the opening of the Kids Zone sponsored by Public Service Co of Oklahoma and Reasor’s which will include turtle races, inflatables, face painting, a pet contest, cotton candy, snow cones and much more.

There will also be a Kids Fishing Derby sponsored by Sean White at the Langley Courtesy docks.

Music throughout the event will be hosted by the Bank of Grove and Langley Tag Agency and the Langley Police Department will offer a chance to Dunk A Cop.

The main event is the much anticipated return of the famous and popular Langley Outhouse Race which will take place on Main Street at 3:00 pm. You DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS!

The Birthday celebration wraps up Saturday evening at 6 pm with a Street Dance featuring Grand Lake favorites Don White and Phil Bethel.

Since you’ll be in Langley anyway, you don’t want to miss the 8th annual South Grand Lake Lions Club Chili Cook-Off & Tailgate Party!

Grand Lake Chili Cookoff

The 2014 South Grand Lake Lions Club Chili Cook-Off is Saturday, September, Sept 27th in Langley.

This super fun party takes place at the Langley Ball Fields from 11 am to 2 pm and includes all sorts of GREAT Chili & some of the BEST Tailgate food you’ve ever had!

Plus, as usual, there will be area vendors with arts, crafts and all sorts of fun stuff set up throughout the park.

Tasting kits will be available for $5.00 in advance and $6.00 at the gate.

Advance tasting kits can be purchased at Langley Tag Agency or Grand Lake Medical Park in Langley.
