Find The Best Fall Colors At Grand Lake

Are you thinking about a weekend drive to check out the fall colors in Oklahoma?

Well then there is no better time to come to Grand Lake, as the Grand Lake region is alive with the vibrant colors of fall.

Obviously, if you can, getting out on Grand Lake by boat is the best way to check out the awesome foliage all over the lake – from Pensacola Dam to the Twin Bridges – as it is beautiful right now. Trust me…I get to see it every day!

But not everyone can or wants to get out on the water, and that’s OK too because here are some awesome drives in the area that should be just beautiful:

  • Hwy 82 between Spavinaw and Salina – This stretch of road, especially the closer you get to Spavinaw, is absolutely gorgeous with winding roads and tons of trees.
  • Hwy 59 South of Jay – The drive South of Jay on Hwy 59 is one of the prettiest in the State as you wind your way through heavy timber, only to come out at beautiful Lake Eucha. It’s a must see.
  • Another awesome drive out of Jay is to head West or North on State Hwy 127 towards Zena. This will be a stunning drive this weekend as you approach the Drowning Creek arm of Grand Lake and then come out at the tiny community of Zena.
  • Further North, Hwy 10 from Grove to Wyandotte is another drive that should provide spectacular color this fall. The drive is prettiest as you go North from Grove over the Elk River Bridge towards Wyandotte.

Those are some of the most picturesque drives I have enjoyed in the Grand Lake area, but I’m sure there are many others as well.

Really, you can’t go wrong just heading down any County Road that heads towards homes along Grand Lake, whether it’s on the Afton area over by The Coves and The Vintage or on Monkey Island or down around Ketchum near Spinnaker Point, Port Carlos or The Points.

If you think you are getting lost…well, just keep going…you’ll end up somewhere!

Because chances are you’ll be glad you went down that road to see some of the best colors that Oklahoma has to offer.

And while your cruising around the Grand Lake area, don’t forget to stop in for lunch or dinner at one of the fine restaurants in the Grand Lake area or visit one of the great attractions that can be found along your drive.
