Did you know…
All boats have a hull identification number (HIN) of 12 characters.
The first three characters identify the manufacturer or importer. The next five are the hull serial number; the next two represent the date of certification or manufacture. The final two characters are the boat’s model year corresponding to the model’s year of certification or manufacture.
The numbers should be compared to your purchase agreement and registration forms for accuracy. Also, the hull numbers allow the owner to check if his boat is one of those that has a defect or is involved in a recall.
You are invited to join the local boating club to have fun, plus the opportunity to take courses online or in the classroom to improve your boating skills and knowledge.
