About Disney Off-Roading

Hidden below Pensacola Dam — out of sight of the vast majority of people on Grand Lake — is one of the best off-roading and rock-crawling destinations in the United States.

The GRDA-owned property below the dam, including the Rock Garden area below the spillways and several hills and trails along the Grand River, has become a destination for those who love off-roading, jeeping, and rock crawling. And GRDA is generous enough to provide direct, public access to this adult playground.

When you roll into Disney, it's like stepping back in time. No full-service hotels or luxury accommodations here. It's camping, cabins, RV sites, drive-in restaurants, a bait shop, and a busy convenience store that serves as the community hub. And world-class rock crawling that draws enthusiasts from across the country.

Rules & Regulations

Know before you go. Understanding the local rules will help ensure a trouble-free visit.

Important: Street Legality

Operating off-road vehicles on State Highway 28 remains a gray area. People do sometimes receive tickets. The Mayes County Sheriff and Highway Patrol may have a presence on busy off-roading weekends. Use common sense, prioritize safety, and you shouldn't have any problems.

The Town of Disney has an ordinance regarding off-road vehicle use on city streets. GRDA also has specific rules and regulations for their property. Trail maps available at local businesses include this information.

What to Bring

  • Recovery gear (straps, shackles, winch if equipped)
  • First aid kit
  • Plenty of water and snacks
  • Tools for field repairs
  • Spare tire and basic fluids
  • CB or ham radio for group communication
  • Trash bags (pack it in, pack it out)
