One of the largest annual rock crawling and off-road events in the United States — Disney, Oklahoma
The Big Meat Run — officially Sumners Big Meat Run — is one of the largest and most beloved off-road and rock crawling gatherings in the entire country.
Every March, thousands of off-road enthusiasts, racers, spectators, and fans descend on the small town of Disney, Oklahoma for a week of extreme rock crawling, racing, trail runs, swap meets, food trucks, live music, and community. The event draws participants and spectators from across the United States and has become a landmark on the national off-road calendar.
Disney sits below Pensacola Dam at the south end of Grand Lake O' The Cherokees — and the GRDA-owned property below the dam, including the legendary Rock Garden and a network of granite-strewn trails, provides the jaw-dropping terrain that makes the Big Meat Run possible. It's a world-class off-road destination that most Grand Lake visitors have never even heard of.
The event has grown significantly over the years into a much more organized and expanded series of events stretching across an entire week. Read the full history of the Big Meat Run →
The Big Meat Run is held annually in mid-to-late March, typically anchored around the third weekend of March. The full event spans roughly a week, with kickoff events beginning the Tuesday before and wrapping up the following Sunday with the Big Clean Run.
Disney's city streets are UTV and golf cart friendly, so you can roll right into town from the trails. Note that State Highway 28 requires a street-legal vehicle. See the full rules and regulations before you head out.
The Big Meat Run is more than a single race — it's a full week of distinct events, each with its own character and following.
The ultimate riverbed race — stock vehicles only, shotgun start, racing from Little Blue to Rock Garden. One of the most exciting spectator events of the week. Registration closes at the BMR Merch Trailer before the race; racers head to Little Blue at 2PM with the race starting at 3PM.
The fan-favorite competition held at the Rock Garden. Registration closes at 1:30PM; racers arrive at Rock Garden at 2PM and the race starts at 3PM. This is the signature competitive event of BMR weekend — the crowd energy is unlike anything else.
One of the most popular community trail runs at BMR. Heads out Saturday morning at 10AM — a beloved tradition for regulars and newcomers alike.
Another crowd favorite. Nasty Girl — also known as Bounty Hill — runs after the Knock Out Races wrap up on Saturday. A challenging and thrilling run that draws big crowds.
Off-road parts, gear, accessories, and vendor booths fill the Moonies parking lot all day Saturday. Sign up at the BMR Merch Trailer before Saturday.
After the Battle of the Beaters, the community gathers around the bonfire at the Chili Bowl area to meet fellow racers, spectators, and the BMR crew. Weather permitting.
BMR closes the weekend with a community clean-up run. Meet at the Loaded Spud Food Truck at 10AM, then gather at Chili Bowl at 1:30PM for judging on most trash collected. Prizes from Raceline Wheels, Warn Winches, Custom Splice, and Rugged Radios.
BMR week kicks off Tuesday with a St. Patrick's Day party at Moonies (live music at 6PM). The official BMR Welcome Party follows Thursday evening at Moonies at 6PM — a great way to meet the BMR community before the racing begins.
Beyond the organized events, Disney becomes the food truck capital of Oklahoma for the weekend — close to two dozen food trucks set up across town, and the energy is electric. Vendors, live music, and off-road culture fill every corner of Disney all week long.
