2021 Big Meat Run
March 19 - March 21
Are you ready for the 21st year of John Sumner’s Big Meat Run? You better be, because it’s going down March 19th through the 20th in beautiful Disney, OK.
There are big changes this year due to covid – in particular, shirts were only available online and are no longer available and there will be NO RAFFLE this year. But do be on the lookout for random handouts of cool off-road gear to participants and spectators throughout the weekend.
Also, have not heard about a poker run. The poker run organizers have just experienced a loss in the family, so not sure if this will happen this year or not.
To stay up to date on all of the most current BMR info, follow the official Big Meat Run admin Facebook page HERE.
And, of course, a huge thanks to John and Edie Sumner for all of the time they put in to make this happen each year!
Crawling Info From GRDA
GRDA Police are prepared to welcome Big Meat Run participants and off-road enthusiasts and want to remind everyone that safety is paramount to guarantee the enjoyment of all.
Police will have a full complement of officers in off-road vehicles working the event area during the BMR to help those in need and to enforce state regulations on GRDA property.
Officials remind everyone to be familiar with the regulations they need to adhere to while enjoying the event.
- Consuming distilled spirits in public is a violation of Oklahoma state law. Consumption of alcoholic beverages, beer and wine will not be tolerated while operating or riding in a vehicle, motorcycle or ATV. Operating a vehicle, motorcycle, or ATV while under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be tolerated.
- Helmets must be worn by all operators AND passengers who are under the age of eighteen (18) in any off-road vehicle, or vehicle being used for off-road activities, any motorcycles, and any ATV’s.
- Children who are required by law to be in a properly installed and secured child seat based on age and size, and are in a vehicle with a ROPS, may be properly secured in the seat without a helmet.
We also want to remind attendees that there are several locations in the event area that are restricted from vehicle access, including below the dam and spillways, as well as the area that has been closed surrounding the bald eagle’s nest.
Most restricted areas are marked with signage. Participants are also advised to adhere to parking restrictions posted by signage.
Participants are encouraged to get a copy of the below-listed regulations as well as the free off-road area map for the event. The maps can be obtained at the Disney City Hall registration or from any GRDA police officer.
In case of emergency, call GRDA Police at 911.
