Garden Party at Lendonwood Gardens

TICKETS ON SALE NOW FOR LENDONWOOD GARDEN PARTY FUNDRAISER MAY 18

     Tickets are still available for the Lendonwood Gardens annual fundraiser, the Garden Party, set for Saturday, May 18, featuring a sit-down buffet dinner, silent auction and lively music at the botanical garden in Grove.

Garden Party tickets are $60 per person and may be purchased now on the Lendonwood website at www.lendonwood.com or in person at the garden’s Welcome Center.

The deadline for reserving tickets to the Garden Party is May 7.  Tickets will not be sold at the gate.  Seating is limited to 150 persons.  In the event of rain, the party will be moved to the COS Church down the street at 1600 Har-Ber Road.  Dress is casual.

“We’re so excited to welcome everyone to the Garden Party,” said volunteer Ellen Douglas, coordinator of the event.  “There will be delicious food, a fun silent auction with many treasures, and great music to enjoy.”

The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. at the garden located at 1308 Har-Ber Road.  Garden Party guests should enter through Lendonwood’s back entrance near the Hummingbird Garden.

Guests will be dining at tables dotting the area around the Japanese Pavilion and American Backyard Garden.  The buffet dinner will be prepared and served by the popular Timbered-In catering team.  Live entertainment will be provided by Jerry Ruzicka of Grove.

“We are looking forward to a fun evening in support of this beautiful garden right here in Grove,” said Pauline Hale, president of the Lendonwood Board of Directors.  “The Garden Party is our primary fundraiser and will help the garden continue as a gem of the Grand Lake area.”

A wide range of donated items and packages will be available at the silent auction, such as a golf and dining experience at Patricia Island Country Club.  Guests may bid on such baskets as: Lake Life Goodies, Barre Classes, Self Health, Backyard Birdwatching, A Hunters’ Dream, and many more.

Lendonwood was founded by local dentist Dr. Leonard Miller, who donated the garden to a local non-profit organization in 1997.  The botanical garden is operated by a 16-member Board of Directors, many of whom donate hundreds of hours each year toward its maintenance.

Lendonwood Gardens is supported by volunteers, memberships and contributions. The garden is open to the public year-round, from dawn to dusk.  Botanical highlights include major collections of azaleas, rhododendrons, daylilies, hostas, peonies, Japanese maples, dogwoods, and many other plants and trees.  The garden has become a popular rental venue for outdoor weddings and other special events.
