Fall has officially shown up at Grand Lake, and so have the pelicans. Right on cue, too. And can someone explain to me how it is already October?
It looks like a rainy Thursday around here but then beautiful fall weekend with highs in the low-to-mid 70s and lows around 60. Hoodie season is here!
It's one of the busiest weekends of the fall. The 43rd Annual Pelican Festival runs Thursday through Sunday at Wolf Creek Park. Saturday brings the Mahogany & Chrome Classic Boat Show, the last Farmers' Market of the year in Grove, and Laketoberfest on Monkey Island. Then on Sunday afternoon, Candlewyck Cove Resort goes on the auction block.
The live music lineup is stacked, too. As usual.

This is it. This Sunday, October 4 at 3:00 PM, Candlewyck Cove Resort goes on the auction block, live and on-site at 59800 E. 307 Lane, Grove. Twenty parcels across seven waterfront acres will each sell individually:
Four homes (three to six bedrooms, including a custom lakefront residence)
Four townhomes, five cabins, a fourplex, and an eightplex
The office/café and four half-acre lots
All residential properties are fully furnished and move-in ready. And that's before you get to the 19 covered boat slips, six jet-ski ports, boat lifts, boats, and golf carts.

🚤 This Weekend at Grand Lake
Lake Level: The lake level as of 9 am is 742.08' with minimal release at the dam. Lake temps are in the 70s.
🦅 43rd Annual Pelican Festival – Grand Lake's favorite fall tradition is back at Wolf Creek Park in Grove. It's four days (starting today!) of carnival rides, arts & crafts, food trucks, pelican boat tours, and free live music under the Indigo Sky tent. Lightly Salted plays Friday night, and Guns 4 Roses (a Guns N' Roses tribute) plays Saturday. Full schedule at pelicanfestok.com.
The carnival runs Thursday and Friday from 6:00 to 10:00 PM.
Arts & crafts and food trucks open Friday at noon and Saturday at 10:00 AM.
The Car, Truck & Bike Show is Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Grove Masonic Lodge.
🌱 Grand Lake Water Pollution Prevention – Today at 4 pm, The Lake O' The Cherokees Subwatershed Association is hosting its "3x3 Challenge" at Northeast Tech in Grove, just south of Sailboat Bridge. RSVP and you'll go home with everything you need to build a 3'x3' pollinator garden: native plants, seeds, dirt, and a frame. It's free, there are refreshments, and every little bit helps keep the lake clean. RSVP at LOTCSWA@gmail.com.
⛳ SGLC Charity Golf Tournament – The South Grand Lake Chamber tees off at The Coves Golf Club tomorrow (Friday!) with a 4-person scramble. Lunch is at 11:00, and social hour and awards follow at 5:00 and 6:00. Proceeds support local scholarships, the South Grand Christmas Parade, the Disney Fireworks, and the Back Pack Program. 🥕 Final Farmers' Market of the Year – This is your last shot for the season at Grove's Downtown Square, Saturday morning at 9. Stock up on the good stuff while you can!
🛥️ 33rd Annual Mahogany & Chrome Boat Show – Classic, vintage, and retro boats take over Cherokee Yacht Club for Grand Lake's longest-running boat show, hosted by Heartland Classics. It's Saturday, it’s free and it’sopen to the public. If you've never seen a row of restored mahogany runabouts gleaming on the water, this is your chance. Details at heartlandclassics.org.
⛵ Long Distance Classic Sailboat Race – The Grand Lake Sailing Club runs its annual long-distance race from the club down to the dam and back. Keep an eye out for sails if you're on the water Saturday.
🍺 Laketoberfest – The Shebang and Big Shots on Monkey Island are throwing a Laketoberfest celebration, starting at 5 pm on Saturday. It runs well into Sunday morning, so plan your ride home accordingly.
