Fall's first cool-down, the inaugural Grand Lake Fest, and 40 years of Mooney's!

Do you feel that? For the first time in what seems like forever, it's actually cooler outside — and soon-to-be a little wet! After weeks of hot, we've got showers moving through today with a high in the upper 70s, and then things clearing out for a beautiful September weekend at the lake. Nice! 👊
Before we get to that, a big shout-out to everyone who made the 4th Annual Grand River Dam Paddle a huge success last weekend. The GRDP brought paddlers from 11 states to Langley for a beautiful morning on the Grand River below the dam. Shout out to John Knippers who puts this event on - he’s a world-class distance SUP paddler, and works hard to bring these people here. Pretty cool.
And here's the thing: if you packed it in after Labor Day, you're making a mistake. Fall is the BEST season at the lake — awesome temps, great boating, fantastic fishing, and a calendar full of events from now through October.

🚤 This Weekend at Grand Lake
Lake Level — The lake level as of Thursday morning is 742.69' with minimal intermittent generation. That's just a touch below normal pool and holding steady — great conditions on the water. Oh, and the lake temps are still strongly in the upper 80s.
🚚 Food Truck Friday! – This Friday is the FINAL Food Truck Friday of the season in Downtown Grove from 5 to 9 pm. Grab dinner from the food trucks, check out the Cruise Night & Car Show, and catch live music from Porter Crossing. One last Friday night downtown until next season — let's send it off with a big crowd!
🎭 Playmakers Cabaret: Around the World - The Grove Community Playmakers kick off their new "Around the World" cabaret series Friday night at 7:30, and the first excursion is all South America — specialty drinks from mixologist Rick DuBois, music, theatrical fun, and a few surprises. 🛍️ Grove Merchants' Fall Open House Weekend – Grove merchants are rolling out the fall welcome mat Friday and Saturday with their Fall Open House Weekend — great deals, drawings, door prizes, and local fun all over town. It pairs perfectly with everything else happening in Grove this weekend, so shop local while you are out and about.
🎉 Grand Lake Fest – The inaugural Grand Lake Fest takes over Wolf Creek Expo in Grove Saturday from 11 to 7, celebrating America's 250th at Grand Lake. You've got an indoor car, truck & bike show, the Delaware County Chili Cook-Off, vendors, food trucks, a DJ, and family fun all day. There's also an Adventure Casino Cruise with $7,500 in cash prize drawings, benefiting the Grand Lake Family YMCA Parkinson Support Group. Full details at groveok.org.
🎂 Mooney's 40th Anniversary – Mooney's Sunset Bar & Grill in Disney celebrates FORTY years Saturday. Four decades of sunsets, live music, and good times on South Grand — stop by and help them celebrate - a Grand time will be had, no doubt!
🍴 World's Largest Calf Fry – The World's Largest Calf Fry returns to the Craig County Fairgrounds in Vinita Saturday from 3 to 6 pm, complete with a Battle of the Bands.
🍕 Looking Ahead: Big Pizza Party & Coats for Kids – Monday night at 7:00, The Anchor at Shangri-La kicks off its 2026 Coats for Kids Drive during the Chiefs-Broncos Monday Night Football game. 🍽️ Restaurant News - Mooney's is now closed Tuesdays. And a few seasonal goodbyes: Eddy's, Sharky's, Blue Bluff Café, and BOOM are closed for the season, while Speedy's Chophouse in Grove has closed permanently. Bella's on Grand is now open in the former Stuff'ns Café spot in Ketchum.
Farmers Markets - The Grove Farmers Market happens Saturday morning from 8 to 1 on the Downtown Square. I’m pretty sure the Saturday Morning Market in Langley is done for the season.
